Archive Retrieval

In Brief
The secure and reliable management of criminal history records is of up most importance to ensure public and officer safety. OpenFox™ Archive Retrieval provides Administrators and/or Agency TACs with an easy-to-use management tool for automated, secure storage of data for long periods of time. Accessing stored data is easy; users can quickly retrieve information by searching archived data using simple search commands.

Overview

Document and Track Messages Easier

Compatible with both Oracle and Java, the Archive Retrieval system allows users to store, log, access and display message traffic processed by the OpenFox™ Message Switch. Our many years of experience developing systems for law enforcement have helped us identify and implement capabilities useful to the law enforcement environment.

The Archive and Retrieval System includes the following capabilities:

  • Fully automated Extract and Store OpenFox™ Information Broker Message Switch traffic at regular intervals; the recommended interval is daily.
  • An administration utility that assists in the archiving and restoration of extracted data sets to and from tape for extended management of accumulated data.
  • Powerful and flexible access/display using Oracle Forms and Reports and Java that allows the user to search and select logged data using index values and strings. The retrieved message data can be displayed, printed, or selected for forwarding to any destination known to the Message Switch.

Technical

Oracle

The system uses fast and easy Oracle Relational database management tools in addition to UNIX/AIX™ or Windows NT® and client functionality.

Query Transaction
The query in the example below illustrates an Oracle Forms in which a user has entered the date “3/2/2000” and has provided the search criteria to search for all messages sent or received in the first minute after midnight. When the user clicks on the “run query” button, a message displays informing the user that the query is running. While the graphical user interface (GUI) features comfortable colors and plain easy to use buttons and text boxes for data entry, the resulting returned data set will be familiar and easy to understand. After the user finishes entering values in the first form and presses the “execute query” button, a second form appears with the results of the query.
