CPI has achieved an industry first by successfully deploying a comprehensive, CJIS-compliant law enforcement solution featuring multiple systems built with CPI products. These include a Message Switch, Workstations, HotFiles, Sex Offender Registry, and Computerized Criminal History, to name a few—all hosted securely in our own Software-as-a-Service data center.
The Alaska Department of Public Safety is now the twentieth (20th) customer to implement the OpenFox® Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution for its OpenFox system. Alaska moved its OpenFox system source data from its previous location in Anchorage, AK, to the CJIS-compliant, SOC2-audited OpenFox Data Center in Bolingbrook, IL.
By building the entire system in the CPI SaaS Center, knowledgeable CPI staff now oversee the IT responsibilities. Now, Alaska and all of our SaaS clients are rid of the burden of maintaining older hardware, operating systems, and databases, freeing up their resources to focus on other duties. CPI’s operational strength and stability provide relief to our clients, who can put all those problems behind them. OpenFox SaaS is of tremendous value to Alaska.
CPI migrated all existing data and built the new OpenFox system, along with enhanced functionality, for the Linux (RHEL) VM environments in the CPI Data Center. The project included the following OpenFox solutions:
- OpenFox Message Switch (Switch 8)
- OpenFox Messenger
- OpenFox MessengerNow
- OpenFox Configurator
- OpenFox Operator Aid
- OpenFox Archive
- OpenFox NextGen HotFiles
- OpenFox NextGen Computerized Criminal History
- OpenFox NextGen Sex Offender Registry
- Historical Protection Order Repository
CPI performed the following services to complete the migration:
- Built a SaaS system in CPI’s Data Center to host the Message Switching System
- Transitioned the current Alaska OpenFox data, software, and configurations to the CPI SaaS architecture
- Provided one production and one test environment
- Established connections from the SaaS solution to the State communications endpoints for testing and validation of the conversion
- Established a point-to-point VPN tunnel from CPI’s Data Center
- Implemented a vCenter server HA solution for virtual environments
- Performed system integration testing
- Configured OpenFox Advanced Authentication (“Soft Tokens”) in the OpenFox Message Switch
- Transitioned all new solutions into production
