CPI Successfully Migrates Iowa DPS to Red Hat Linux Environment

CPI and the Iowa Department of Public Safety (IADPS) recently migrated the existing OpenFox® Message Switch and ancillary Databases (DB’s) from the current AIX and Windows server environments to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environment.

The following OpenFox components were included in the migration:
 OpenFox Message Switch
 Configurator
 Operator Aid
 Computerized Criminal History (CCH) DB
 Hotfiles (HFS) DB, including Sex Offender Registry (SOR)
 High Availability (HA)

IADPS provided RHEL environments for the following applications
 Production OpenFox server
 Production OpenFox failover server
 Production DB server
 Production DB failover server
 Test OpenFox/DB server
 SAN for onsite storage
 Disaster Recovery (DR) OpenFox server
 DR DB server
 DR SAN

CPI upgraded the core OpenFox Message Switch module(s) to the latest version(s) and replaced the current Power/AIX-based OpenFox Message Switch Systems with an OpenFox application-only install on Linux/RHEL. CPI exported, converted and imported the OpenFox CCH and SOR data from the IADPS’s current version of AIX Oracle to Linux-based Oracle 12.1.

Finally, CPI rebuilt the Oracle Enterprise Data Guard instances for CCH and HFS at the DR site for the DR server using Oracle RMAN backup utility.
The IADPS OpenFox Message Switch is the 12th Message Switch to be deployed on RHEL.
